Looking for a fun and festive craft to get your kids excited for the 4th of July? This Statue of Liberty Mask is the perfect patriotic project! With its iconic spiked crown and friendly face, this easy paper mask brings Lady Liberty to life in a way that’s both creative and memorable.

Kids will love coloring, cutting, and wearing their very own Statue of Liberty Mask — it’s like stepping into history and playtime all at once! Whether they’re putting on a backyard parade, playing dress-up, or posing for a fun photo booth, this craft is guaranteed to make your holiday extra special.

The best part? While your little crafters are busy decorating their masks, it’s the perfect moment to share a few fun facts about the real Statue of Liberty. Did you know she was a gift from France in 1886? Or that her full name is “Liberty Enlightening the World”? These little tidbits make the craft even more meaningful.

Our Statue of Liberty Mask is designed to be simple enough for preschoolers but fun for big kids too. All you need is the printable template, some crayons or markers, and string or a craft stick to turn Lady Liberty into a wearable masterpiece.

And if your kids love this craft, they’ll definitely want to make her patriotic sidekick too — the Uncle Sam Paper Mask! These two iconic masks make a perfect pair for any Independence Day celebration. It’s double the fun when kids can switch between these famous American symbols!

Why stop there? Our blog is packed with even more 4th of July art projects that families love. From our adorable Coffee Filter Bald Eagle to the Melted Crayon Fireworks and Clothespin Puppets, there’s no shortage of ways to get creative and celebrate with stars and stripes.

These holiday crafts aren’t just fun — they’re a great way to spend quality time together. Gather around the craft table, share some laughs, and make something your kids will be proud to show off when the fireworks start to fly.

So grab your crayons and let the celebration begin! This Statue of Liberty Mask is just one of many ways we’re here to help you craft memories that sparkle as bright as the 4th of July sky.

Step 3: Cut Out the Mask

Carefully cut out the mask along the solid lines. If your child is too young to handle scissors, be sure to assist them with this step. Don't forget to cut out the eye holes so your child can see through the mask.

To get started, have an adult gently push the tip of the scissors through the center of each eye. Then, carefully cut along the lines. Alternatively, you can use a hole punch to create a small hole, and then gradually enlarge it with scissors.

Step 4: Attach the Elastic Cord

Next, you'll need to attach an elastic cord to the back of the mask so your child can wear it comfortably. Start by measuring the elastic cord to fit around your child's head. For reference, I used a 13-inch piece, but you may need to adjust this based on your child's head size. Have an adult help with this step by using a glue gun to attach the ends of the elastic cord to the back of the mask's head, near the eyes. Make sure the cord is securely attached and allow the glue to cool and harden completely before letting your child try on the mask.
