Ahoy, crafty mateys! If your kids love pirates, parrots, and clever paper crafts, they’re going to squawk with delight over this Pirate Parrot Egg Craft. This simple, hands-on project lets kids create their very own pirate parrot hidden inside a paper egg — then make it hatch and pop out with a simple push of a popsicle stick! It’s the perfect mix of pretend play and surprise.

This pirate parrot egg craft is a creative twist on classic puppets and moving paper toys. Kids get to color, cut, glue, and assemble their own hatching egg, then watch their feathery pirate sidekick appear right before their eyes. It’s easy enough for preschoolers and fun enough for older kids who want to add extra pirate-y details to their parrot.

One of the best things about this craft is how it sparks imaginative play. Once that parrot hatches, your kids will have a trusty sidekick ready for any backyard treasure hunt, pirate puppet show, or storytelling adventure. They can squawk pirate phrases, perch their puppet on a shoulder, or team up with other pirate crafts for a full crew!

It’s a perfect rainy day activity or boredom buster when you need something fun that also builds fine motor skills, creativity, and pretend play.

Step 4: Glue

Grab your glue stick — it’s time to make this pirate parrot hatch! Place glue only on the areas that are marked in gray and labeled “glue” on the template. These spots are designed to help you know where the glue should go so that your egg attaches correctly but still allows the parrot to move smoothly. Once the glue is in place, carefully attach the top part of the egg to the bottom piece. Press firmly so everything sticks together nicely. Let it dry for a few minutes before testing your hatching parrot surprise.
