Looking for a fun Halloween craft that's both creative and useful? This 3D Bat Bookmark Craft for Kids – Printable Halloween Paper Craft is the perfect combination of reading and crafting! Kids will love coloring, cutting, and assembling their very own friendly bat bookmark that peeks over the top of a book to save their place. It's a fun way to celebrate the Halloween season while encouraging a love of reading.
This printable bat bookmark craft is simple enough for younger children to enjoy while still being engaging for older kids. With just a few basic craft supplies, children can transform a printable template into an adorable 3D bat that's ready to fly onto the pages of their favorite storybook.
One of the best things about this Halloween paper craft for kids is that it becomes something children can use every day. Instead of sitting on a shelf after it's finished, this bat bookmark encourages kids to pick up a book and continue reading. Every time they open their story, their little bat will be waiting to greet them.

As children color, cut, fold, and glue their bookmark together, they're also strengthening important developmental skills. Crafting helps improve fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, concentration, and confidence. It's a wonderful screen-free activity that combines learning with hands-on fun.
Kids can make each bat completely unique! Use classic black for a traditional Halloween bat, or get creative with purple, gray, orange, or even rainbow colors. Add funny eyes, goofy smiles, tiny fangs, rosy cheeks, or playful expressions to give every bat its own personality.
This bat bookmark craft is perfect for classrooms, homeschool lessons, Halloween parties, library programs, reading clubs, or quiet afternoons at home. Teachers and librarians especially love crafts that encourage reading while giving kids something fun to create and take home.

3D Bat Bookmark Craft for Kids

Step 1: Print the Bat Template
Download and print the 3D Bat Bookmark template on an 8.5 x 11-inch sheet of white cardstock. Cardstock works best because it makes the bookmark sturdy enough to use again and again.

Step 2: Color the Bat
Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color the bat and its wings. Choose classic Halloween colors like black, purple, orange, or green—or create a completely unique bat!

Step 3: Cut Out the Pieces
Carefully cut out the bat’s body and wing piece by following the outside lines of the template. Younger children may need help with this step.

Step 4: Fold the Bookmark
Fold the rectangular wing piece in half inward so the colored sides are facing each other on the inside of the fold.

Step 5: Fold Back the Wings
Fold each bat wing backward along the fold lines so the colored wings face outward and can be seen.

Step 6: Glue the Rectangle
Unfold the bat wings. Apply glue to the inside of the rectangular sections, then press the two rectangles together. Be careful not to glue the wings down.

Step 7: Attach the Bat’s Body
Glue the bat’s body on top of the wings, lining it up in the center. Allow the glue to dry completely before using your bookmark.

Your 3D Bat Bookmark Is Complete!
Your spooky-cute 3D Bat Bookmark is ready to save your place! Slide the rectangular section between the pages of your favorite book, leaving the bat’s body and wings hanging outside. The playful bat will peek out from the book, ready to help you find your spot whenever it’s time to start reading again!
