Oink, oink! Get ready for some squeal-worthy fun with our Pig Paper Bag Puppet—the perfect craft for kids who love to color, cut, and create! This little piggy isn’t going to the market… it’s headed straight to your craft table. With just a few simple supplies, your kids can make their own pink piggy friend ready for puppet shows, storytime, and plenty of barnyard giggles.
Crafting a pig puppet is not only fun—it’s a great way to encourage imaginative play and hands-on learning. As kids color in their pig’s big snout, floppy ears, and curly tail, they’re building fine motor skills and expressing creativity in the cutest way possible. Plus, it’s a screen-free activity that results in hours of oinking fun.

One of the best parts of this craft is how easy it is to do together. Whether you're working one-on-one or crafting with a classroom full of little farmers, sitting down to make a puppet side-by-side is a sweet way to bond. Kids light up when you join in and show interest in their creations—and you’ll both be giggling as you bring your puppets to life with silly voices and stories.
As your child colors their pig, don’t forget to cheer them on! Praise their color choices, their cutting efforts, or even their pig’s personality. Try saying things like, “That’s the brightest pig I’ve ever seen!” or “I love those spots you added!” These little compliments go a long way in building your child’s confidence and helping them feel proud of their work.

Step 1: Print the Template
Start by printing out the paper bag template on 8.5x11 white paper or cardstock. Templates are FREE to download and can be found towards the bottom of the post.

Step 2: Color Your Pig Paper Bag Puppet
Let your child get creative! Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color in the cow’s head, ears, and body. Classic black-and-white cows are always cute, but rainbow cows are totally welcome too!

Step 3: Cut Out Your Paper Bag Puppets
Carefully cut along the outlines of your colored paper bag puppet. Take your time to make clean and precise cuts.

Step 4: Assemble & Glue Your Paper Bag Puppet
Now it’s time to bring your pig to life! First, take your paper bag and lay it flat with the flap facing up (this flap will become the puppet’s face). Start by gluing the pig’s body to the section underneath the flap—this is the main part of the bag that covers your hand.

Then, glue the pig’s head on top of the flap so it overlaps slightly with the body. This way, when you open and close the flap, it looks like your pig is talking! Let it dry for a few minutes before you start playing. 🐷
Direct Your Puppet's Journey
Once the glue has fully dried, your Puppet is all set for exciting adventures! Slip your hand through the paper bag opening and kickstart the puppetry fun. Foster imaginative play, weave captivating stories, or stage puppet shows alongside other paper bag characters. The potential for creativity is boundless!
